Oh, I think I sort of get what he's saying. But I think maybe he missed a connection between our need of representations for mental manipulation of concepts but how the brain works solving problems.

It's a sort of classic starting point for the nature of consciousness though. Maybe conscious thought is how the brain manipulates representations to solve problems?
