PO-2 was a mass-produced (20.000 made) all-purpose slow and light plane. Flown by countless pilots, male and female. Helicopter was not yet invented. It is a bit far-fetched to say it was solely due to discrimination that females got to fly them.

I don't really think they or anyone serving in Soviet Army in rank below colonel or so at that time was treated as anything but cannon fodder.

The USSR is not known as being "feminist" during war time. So please fuck off with your "war ends sexism" Soviet-sexism-apologetics. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rape_during_the_occupation_of_Germany …

It would be lovely if you didn't reply to threads I'm in, as you have been more than once, to tell me what a great partner, great traveller and dad and whatever the fuck else you are. I couldn't care less and you just crossed a major line with your BS this time.

If you think the USSR is less sexist than the UK, there have been many studied into this. I also come from a part of the world that superficially seems less sexist. However, the real story is much more depressing and interesting than Cyprus and the USSR are less sexist.

Growing up in the Soviet Union I never heard that girls weren’t supposed to be good at math. New paper compares girls math performance in East & West Germany & shows how changing cultural gender expectations can transform performance. https://www.iza.org/publications/dp/11532/math-girls-and-socialism …

Yes, I grew up in Cyprus. Basic no gender related to maths specifically, but men /boys assumed to be better at everything. So it's (sadly) freeing in a way, women suck at everything, so might as well do maths (in my case compsci) . 🤷🏻‍♀️

You have attached a feminist spin onto something that does not have much to do with it. And tried to defend this spin in an unconvincing way, too. Besides, wars are hell, and USSR was hell, too, I have no clue where you found in my tweets an apology for them.
