As a non-EU immigrant this is interesting to learn. I didn't go through any of this, but possibly it all came in after I arrived here (2006)
He didn't follow the rules, which I was assuming the person would though. Not I agree with the rules, but most applicants, whether white or not, tend to perfectly follow the rules.

I did follow the rules but the changed the rules after I submitted my application... Leaving that aside, I never complained about the copy&paste way of how that is done. Many people less privileged than me could easily run afoul & be terrified to death by that - and they were :/
-
Oh, shit. That's awful. I had no idea that the rules changed. Ugh. I'm so sorry.

-
That shows me for assuming they are decent.

There were definitely fingerprints and photos, I don't remember DNA being a thing though...
-
Yeah, DNA is not a thing. I shouldn't have included it on the list.

I moved to UK recently, from a different Commonwealth country (Canada), but still had plenty of hassle with fingerprint appointment and photos, and sending a stack of supporting documents...
-
I'm no expert but I believe the immigration act of 1972 abolished any special immigration status for Commonwealth citizens.
