nah, it's brilliant (start planning more conference paper submissions now...)

Replying to @martinjc @drvinceknight
I literally am still recovering from travelling to two conferences last month. Had a week long migraine that just ended yesterday, lost 3kgs, barely emotionally stable... I'm always impressed with others who always seem to cope without any health issues or side effects.

Ouch sounds brutal
@o_guest: sending good thoughts. But yeah I agree: life is tough as hell as it is, this incoming "side effect" (nickname pending!) is sure going to make things interesting...1 reply 0 retweets 2 likes -
Sending good thoughts (2)
@o_guest I share the tough recovering from travel and conference. I had 2 hours train delay three weeks ago and a 4 hours flight delay two weeks ago. The result was arrive at home past midnight.1 reply 1 retweet 2 likes -
Yeah, I had a flight cancelled going in to the US. So I had to spend the night in Philly. It was hell. I threw away some of the clothes I was wearing because they were just too dirty to keep with me. I lost about 3 kilos and I feel really weak all the time. I need routine.

no suitcases, no checked in baggage, melatonin/sleeping pills if needed, direct flights if possible, earplugs, a mask to cover eyes, travel insurance, avoid conference hotels, skip plenty of talks, drink plenty of water and no alcohol. have a routine at home to get away from :-)

No suitcases might work for some but I need too many things when away for a week sadly and cannot carry it on my back.

we are away for a month, and still had about 100 liter of baggage for the 3 of us, incl. 2 laptops, preprints and notebooks, and even a couple of paperbacks :-)pic.twitter.com/QWdHbR0f3c

I do not doubt you and many others can travel lighter than me. Good for you.

Well, you asked how others cope... I did travel with more stuff, and in the end gave up on it. One only needs one extra pair of footware, and I take cloths I can wash in a sink if needed. The only luxury is a fountain pen and ink in a bottle :-)

I'm not sure I asked but maybe I'm confused. I am aware others can cope with fewer things when travelling — i think there's many factors at play, but I cannot.
