I'd also like to remind everybody that engaging with people on Twitter is not inherently a waste of time. But certain people are time vampires. Don't let them suck your own time away from you. You can use it to further your career, help others, etc.

If you want to use your time to engage do so knowingly. Give it up knowing it's a present and hope you have an audience because the person you're talking to might never change.

One last thing, that research might be terrible but nothing excuses treating people badly when we're talking about a fucking Twitter thread. If you wouldn't say it to a colleague at work to their face, probably don't say it to a colleague in Twitter.

I'm imagining the problem here could be that certain people's work is actually a very aggressive environment because science is a joke sometimes for keeping people professional.
