Thank you! It's nice to feel not completely off, particularly when, no matter how good one's grip on English, you still wonder about the use you make of it.

By specifics, just to be clear, I mean I actually don't care about the quality of the research, or who is right etc, in this context. What worries me is the way certain people behave within these discussions towards the other discussants. Hypocrisy all the way down.
-
The actual research is important too but we have no lack of critical thinking when it comes to that. We do have a big lack of whose views are treated one way and whose views are treated another.
-
It's a completely orthogonal issue because the views are being judged by who said them not how good they are sometimes. And at the end of the day it results in only certain people's views being heard.
-
I'd also like to remind everybody that engaging with people on Twitter is not inherently a waste of time. But certain people are time vampires. Don't let them suck your own time away from you. You can use it to further your career, help others, etc.
-
If you want to use your time to engage do so knowingly. Give it up knowing it's a present and hope you have an audience because the person you're talking to might never change.
-
One last thing, that research might be terrible but nothing excuses treating people badly when we're talking about a fucking Twitter thread. If you wouldn't say it to a colleague at work to their face, probably don't say it to a colleague in Twitter.
-
I'm imagining the problem here could be that certain people's work is actually a very aggressive environment because science is a joke sometimes for keeping people professional.
