Did you know APA has a scorecard for determining authorship order? Apparently bullshitting (a.k.a. writing the discussion section) is worth over 3x as much as instrument construction. Fuck. That. Shit. https://www.apa.org/science/leadership/students/authorship-determination-scorecard.pdf …

It's probably just me but I find the discussion section the absolute toughest part.

Sure, putting the findings in context of the literature is difficult and important, but look how it scores compared to everything else on that list!

I mean maybe it should be 80 or 90 — I dunno. Must be my biases. Don't forget I don't do empirical stuff and even though the coding is hard it's, as I said, easier to me to do that than write a good discuasion, or indeed any part of the paper... coming from CS?

But, anyway, a lot of us have issues with certain things. Mine is how bad I am at writing compared to where I want to be.

I also don't think Discussion sections in my subfield are BS but of course I can totally accept they are in other parts of Psychology.
