#preprints are great for #openaccess but are they useful for feedback on evolving work? I hear so but haven't yet experienced it, have you?

Yes! I've yet to submit my most recent preprint to a journal and I put in the text of the manuscript comments were welcome and I've gotten a lot of good feedback

Yes, good feedback is possible but not guaranteed. Good feedback is a complex function of luck, privilege, etc. Here's some amazing comments I received, which resulted in a great pub.https://www.biorxiv.org/content/early/2016/08/24/071076#comment-2858281853 …

To state everybody will get useful feedback from a preprint is false IMHO. No field has the ability or time, as currently structured, to offer feedback to every preprint. So feedback is distributed unevenly and possibly even in a rich get richer way given system dynamics.
