Everyone can miss something, but this is too much: he has seen me present this work, it's not obscure, his former postdoc is in my lab, I saw him last week, on and on. This happens too often and is how clubs are built and maintained.

It is unethical and, in fact, not very professional but it is increasingly evident that in science (not exclusively unfortunately) you must join a faction or be pushed into oblivion
