So true. I often pretend I just got a phone call. If a man demands my attention, then I usually smile/giggle, sometimes say thank you, and then get away as quickly as possible without angering him. I don't think any woman is weak for doing this.
-
I do try very hard not to smile/giggle but yes, of course no victim blaming!

Wow, yeah, that's a tough position to be in. I know others who have said they experience similar. I feel for you. I'm sorry some men do that! It's nice to see women trained in krav maga, and perhaps carry a stun gun or defense pen (with training so it's not turned against them).
-
How about we instead train men to not harass others, so women / minorities don't need to have 20 different strategies ready and still face the choice between being demeaned or endangered.
-
David, I don't know you but advising me to break the law is pretty shitty.
-
Actually, heck, I should ask you instead... you're likely far more up to date on these things than when I was in school. Besides the immediate feedback involved in operant conditioning, what might be a more modern way to handle those who resist basic human ethics & training?
-
In all honesty, I wish I knew. Humans are so weird sometimes
-
That's unfortunate. I wish the science addressed this. The problem with operant conditioning is that it can somewhat dehumanzing. And it can take outright brutal forms when you combine it with something like the American culture.
-
This is France though, of course.
-
Yes. My reaction was very American, though (and had quite a bit to do with how you said you get rape threats). And, of course, this type of thing happens everywhere. Violence towards the innocent is sadly universal. It's monstrous, really.
