I know your experience is different but it's actually a little hard for me to talk about mine as a goth in the UK. People tend to think it doesn't happen, but it does.
I get dismissed a lot. It's exhausting. Just a few years ago a kid, around 10, pretended to punch me in the street while saying "fuck goths" in Hackney.
I know you don't mean it that way but you often reply when I talk about my experiences with how it's really good where you grew up. It was really good for being alternative where I grew up too. I never received any abuse for being goth.
I think it's been really hard for me with respect to this. I stopped being a goth for about 6 years.
