Hey folks, can someone please explain the benefits of these minority lists that are piling up? If you've put your name on one, what compelled you to do so & how do you hope others will use it? If you've created one, what inspired it & how do you hope it will be used? @chbergma

1) Community, finding people who share your experience. 2) An easy argument against "there are only white men in our field and our keynotes/prize winners simply reflect that" 3) Resource for search committees or people outside the field who are looking for experts on x

4) Help in diversifying reading lists / lecture content. I also don't know if they pile up. Most fields don't have one I'd say.
