Same for me: not my type of modeling. Given your comments in the rest of the thread, Olivia, I am curious what you consider your type of modeling.

I don't think you and I use the term differently. Models of cognition and/or the brain which can model data but other types of the same model can also just be models. Some of my modelling work doesn't involve fitting any data per se, for example.

Ok, check. Indeed, most of my modeling is ‘theoretical modeling’ (models of cognition), not ‘data modeling’.

Like there's no data being fit here.http://dx.doi.org/10.7554/eLife.21397 …

This is another reason I get upset when people say we don't do theory in psych/neuro... like, we do, we really do.

We do. But surely, we need more of it. I think we need theoretical psychology to grow to match mass in experimental psychology. We are still too far removed from that IMHO.

I meant, nr of people doing theoretical work vs nr of people doing experimental work. I think the ratio is off. Need not be 1, but currently perhaps more like <0.001. Or too pessimistic?

It will be a touchy subject as I think many are misguided at what they even do sometimes? Maybe I'm being too rude. Anyway possible a poll will work but a literature review (so time consuming though) would probably be better?

Much better ofc! So little time ... Perhaps if it could be more automated. But don’t have those skills :)
