I sympathize. My kids don’t seem to take me very seriously either.
They like to make fun of me and call me a noob.

Like literally "noob"? It's kind of cute.

Yes, literally
(as in “OMG, Iris is a noob, hahaha!”, when I ask a question that shows my uninformedness about the latest ‘thing’ in gaming). Affectionately teasing me. I think they enjoy knowing more than me.

But, now I checked urban dictionary, and see they actually probably mean ‘newbie’. Oh, I’m sooooo going to tell them! Wish me luck

In Greek there's the suffix -ara (-αρα) which means big or archetypal and we even say noobara.
You can call them noobs for not knowing noob? N00b is another spelling varient. Report back on what happens!
