So, I find this bit is key. The rad-fem argument that gender is the social construction isn’t wrong. That’s literally how they defined the word so as to use it in specific political ways 1/a couple

I think you are missing the ‘invalidating’ part here, and I feel you are going along with harmful rhetoric. If rad fem really believed that gender were a mere social construction they would have no notion if ‘real women’ to reserve for cis women.

Yes, of course. TERFs immediately will turn a debate on gender (when discussing trans women) as being the same as penis = male. That is not social AT ALL.

Exactly. I’m just so puzzled that the inconsistencies in reasoning are not apparent.

Well, I believe that both our rational discourse and logical analysis are highly influenced by the "structure" of the world we possess. E.g., an implication (A then B) can be obvious in a familiar context and neglected in an alien one.

E.g., gender is "real" when evaluated in a familiar sector of the population, but it is a product of social construction when considered in a less familiar one. Here familiarity is a confounding factor.

Social constructs are real. Or do you mean biological vs non? If so, that won't really help out a TERF PoV since they claim it's 100% social and then resort to vagina == woman, rendering their arguments incoherent and inconsistent.

The funny thing is TERFs hate the word "cis" and yet for all intents and purposes use "real" to mean exactly EXACTLY the same thing.

They also claim "cis" is a made up word (all words are made up) — but like "cis" is fucking Roman, you fucks! E.g., https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cisalpine_Gaul …
