It might be just a misunderstanding. I just don't like being name-called for no reason. I was trying to engage in discussion with a scientist whose work I like very much. That's all.

To my knowledge I haven't name-called you at all. My comment was "Men should try reading what is stated before running to "correct" what is being said" which is a general statement. >>

All remarks here were made by men. The implications it bears, as to a general attitude, I sustain. If you believe that it does not apply to you, sorry, I disagree. Thank you for appreciating my work, I like yours too.

Have you ever entertained the possibility that it is related to the ratio n_of_male/total_n_of_scientists? That would be my first hypothesis...

And no, I am not shutting up anyone, I am not preventing you for saying whatever you want in you own profiles and trust me I will not go there to twist the meaning of your comments, to criticise them, and/or to insist in stating my points.

See the difference? That is precisely trying to shut someone up. People need to learn, with emphasis in men, that freedom to say what you want does not imply that you can impose your comments/will to someone. You can talk but I don't have to listen.

Esther is frustrated here because of the way this has unfolded. Social media is tough but no reason to treat her this way.
