I tried reading this. But I got stuck on the dehumanisation and ridiculing of non-binary people.https://aeon.co/essays/the-idea-that-gender-is-a-spectrum-is-a-new-gender-prison …

TERF implies a lot of baggage that I’m not sure I see here. She’s trying to (from her perspective) correctly lay out the terrain and the vocab, so it’s not about excluding it’s about being able to talk usefully
-
That is, of course, a tricky path. In the hands of Dawkins, etc it can become a very ‘well actually’ sort of endeavour with not enough listening. That seemed the gist of the piece Iris linked me to
-
I worry that TERF just shuts down discussion, and at least some of those discussions are worth having
-
I don't worry too much what cis men think on this topic, but thanks for explaining.
-
The discussion worth having here is why people want to give legitimacy to fallacious arguments and ‘debate’ the gender identities of vulnerable minorities.https://twitter.com/irisvanrooij/status/1019338557247447040?s=21 …

Hey
@PsychScientists please listen to Olivia and Iris on this. Jack H/lberstam and other TERFs use that kind of rhetoric to erase NB folks all the time. It’s fundamentally dehumanizing to speak about NB folx in the way the article does. -
I’ll absolutely take this on board. I’m very much not looking to be a dick here. I have some concerns about some bandwagons, but I’m mostly interested in not harming anyone
-
Fam as someone who has heard H/lberstam irl use that logic&then extend it to say directly that NB people are invalid bc their existence reinforces the gender binary, trust me when I say that article and its writer are transphobic. I trust your humanity and don’t want you duped
