Swimming in very dangerous waters here because of my total ignorance but I cannot avoid thinking that using the adjectives cis/trans when referring to women and men might perpetuate prejudice. There are probably good reasons for it, but I don't know them.

I'd say that in the same way as claiming to be colour blind as an attempt to be non-racist (as opposed to anti-racist) fails to acknowledge the systemic oppression of people of colour, not naming trans experiences can also fail to acknowledge important differences in experience.

If someone's victimised because of their gender, it's likely to be more severe and more dangerous for them if they're also trans. If because of their race, same goes. But on a more interpersonal level, I also think it's just important to refer to people the way they ask you to.
