What does "aren't best practice" mean in this context?

I interpreted it to mean the ones that aren't doing things how things are 'supposed' to be done, e.g. how business is taught on standard MBAs, or strategies that are routinely rewarded by VC models

Yep. The bigger Feral Business project is about experimental forms of business and organisations - structures/business models/supply chains etc. - looking at the edge cases rather than the megacorps. Not a lot online yet as just launched:https://fo.am/feral-business-workshop/ …
