Turn the other way and look at the businesses/organisations/projects that aren't best practice, aren't scalable, and aren't models - that's where the interesting stuff is happening. [Keep coming back to this, from the Feral Business Research Network meeting a few weeks ago]

I interpreted it to mean the ones that aren't doing things how things are 'supposed' to be done, e.g. how business is taught on standard MBAs, or strategies that are routinely rewarded by VC models
