It's been the hardest thing having them in our house... Rebuilding it from the dirt to the sky. New roof, new floors... and the fact they aren't willing to do the finishing work — what we have to live with, look at, etc., every day is so upsetting but at least it's almost there.

We've been abandoned. We're going to hire another builder to finish this work off cos this guy can really see "this needed more coats of paint", "this socket is not level — these switch plates are ruined" (30 quid down the drain), and "this needs to be waterproof" and on and on.

As I've said before, don't do it. If you think your personality is anything like mine and you're in the UK this isn't for you. If you're nothing like me on this, I've envied you all my life, you lucky relaxed chilled person.

There isn't a week that goes by that I don't look at, e.g., the radiators and think "why aren't the pipes coming out of the wall so I can clean the floor easily and cos it's way more aesthetically pleasing like I asked like they do in Cyprus".

Ppl think I can heal but I'm too mental. I know me. It's been months. My brain doesn't accept it. If you're anything like me, don't rebuild a terrace & instead buy a newbuild flat & redo the bathroom(s) & kitchen & yes pay that little more for the specific designers & fitters.

I really feel homesick but I don't even know where my home is anymore.

Just to be clear, just because these things really upset me and I wish they didn't doesn't detract from the fact that they are also just plainly wrong. Not doing the finishing on a job is extremely abusive.

Also holy shit. I'm so incredibly homesick. I haven't felt this way since 2009, three years after emigrating. I'm so unrelentingly homesick and I don't even know where home is.

I feel like crying a fucking torrent of tears for hours but I've noticed that's not helpful.
