Born here but famagusta... (now occupied)

Ah, Varosha then. Famagusta is able to be visited and I have been a few times — Varosha AFAIK is not open to anybody except Turkish troops although I guess some reporters have been allowed in more recently. I was born in/am from Nicosia.
-
My aunt and uncle were in Varosha on their honeymoon when the invasion happened.
-
Yes, I think the other side of his family are in no man's land - horrible, one cousin was killed in the invasion. I've been on the Turkish side only once and many relatives disapproved that we went at all.
-
Sure —- everybody has right wing relatives — I do too. But without meeting our fellow Cypriots and saying sorry through actions it's never going to get better. My brother now speaks fluent Turkish and he and a lot of my schoolmates actively work for cooperation and peace.
-
Things are changing and the older generations need to get with the program.

-
So much change even I am allowed to be legally Cypriot now too! Finally. After all these years of trying to deport me when I was a baby. Cyprus defined (when I was born and until 1999, I think) being legally Cypriot as patrilineal, something I lack (surname is a hint).
