Ok, I see. Thank you for pointing out. Will reflect on it myself too. That’s an important point.

I thought for a sec you were answering my other question (this one: https://twitter.com/irisvanrooij/status/1006228148441309184?s=21 …). I sincerely wonder why there seems less ethusiastic response from women to this (than to the male allies thread), and I wondered if I am misphrasing the question.

Iris van Rooij @IrisVanRooijInspired by chat w/@criticalneuro, I'm reposting the tweet below. Although heartened by responses so far, I noticed it gets notably fewer responses compared to the original#maleallies thread. So this got me thinking. Why is this? https://twitter.com/IrisVanRooij/status/998141436083232768 …0 replies 0 retweets 2 likes -

Thanks for sharing. Resonates with some of my own experiences. It’s a puzzle indeed. I’ve been pondering it quite a bit, and I’m hoping to avoid the cynical interpretation that wanting to have allies is higher on agenda then wanting to be allies.

Thought about it a lot too & I think your analysis is on point. In fact, been struggling with it much of today. Because of your tweets, I realized that what I maybe should have done is actually ask the question you answered (but I never asked). >>

Then I thought of creating a new thread that would do exactly that, & then I froze. I realized I did not feel capable enough, I could not take, create nor oversee the full space. Indeed intersectionality makes it so tricky, I felt uncertain & too vunerable to navigate it well.>>

Then at end of the day I realized how intersectionality also playes out in
#changeyourtwitterhandle. That got me stuck & torn (still). :) So a long-winded way of saying: Yes, agreed, it’s hard work balancing & complex navigating, even if all good intent & commitment are there.0 replies 0 retweets 4 likes -

Was just preparing a thread to explain why I haven’t joined either, when I saw this. Been aware of oppressive nature of psychology of gender for long. But re: what you say abt academic feminism: Makes me realize I wasn’t even seeing half the whole picture of this Dr discussion.

Also agreed here. One of many reasons I've not joined in. In fact similar reasons why I've not yet changed by name on my passport or bank card even though I've had a Ph.D. for 4 and a bit years.

[ 👻] @_natalieofflineThe bar is so low. I can’t believe how many people are using “success” and “talent” as justifications for sociopathic and abusive behaviour. The mental gymnastics on the timeline are Olympic. The only good thing about moments like this is that people openly show their allegiance.Show this thread0 replies 0 retweets 2 likesThanks.
