I'm so glad that preprints exist. Knowing your work is being read really takes the sting out of the painful publication process. Out of curiosity, do you have access to the download stats on Arxiv?
-
I think arxiv is against that for various reasons: https://arxiv.org/help/faq/statfaq …
-
Huh, TIL. I'd disagree with that, but fair enough.
-
There's still Altimetric though you can check that for any arxiv paper
-
Altmetric
@altmetric doesn't show/track downloads AFAIK. -
Although I do put the scores on my website [see: http://oliviaguest.com/#pub ] — I dunno. Take them with a pinch of salt since they go up and down & do not track reference managers outside Mendeley (which is not open source and owned by Elsevier; so you can image ppl might avoid it).
-
Does anybody know of any studies which look into which aspect of Altmetric score (my guess is how many people add it to their Mendeley bibliography library) are most predictive of the impact of a paper on a given field (e.g., citations)?
-
there have been a few over the years--most tend to point to blog posts and Mendeley readership as being the most predictive of future citations in most fields. do you need links to the studies themselves? we'd be happy to send them!
