Good intro post... and the two others that follow ithttps://www.oreilly.com/ideas/the-ethics-of-artificial-intelligence …

I think she is looking for something more technical, but thank you and will forward as an optional reading material.

-
IMHO it's those who think they need something more 'technical' are the ones that most need a foundation in ethics. Ethics is technē...
-
Not disagreeing but she's doing a summer proj & it needs to finish. She just got As in A-levels & wants to study Cogi/CompSci. We need to encourage women & not bury under the burden of too much reading, esp since they are more susceptible to stereotype threat & impostor syndrome.
-
Besides for various reasons most ethical issues in CS strongly correlate with white men being in charge of the field.

-
However, I will share this with her, like I said, but with caveats so she is orientated properly.
-
And to be 100% clear she neither white nor a man.
-
Loud and clear, please!

Maybe this tutorial about convolutional neural networks, implemented in Keras may be helpful?https://github.com/arokem/conv-nets …
-
Yeah, I think it might be! Will send it to her — thanks!
-
I hope you are trying faces of different races & ethnicity - this is often forgotten by software engineers...
-
She herself is not white. And yes, I have sent her a bunch of stuff on the ethical side of things. I am not directly involved in her project.

Chollet’s book is great for a practical into to Keras, Goodfellow et al’s Deep Learning is great on theory.
Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

I'm going to publish all my notes, powerpoints, mind maps, and code, etc, frm the deep learning &computer vision MOOCs I've done over the last 2 years! So that might be useful! I won't get it all up for a few months tho so it might be a bit late for a summer project!
-
* I am actually going to publish all my notes and essays etc. frm all MOOCs n personal projects ranging frm deep learning thru systems biology to engineering mechanics! Mostly 'cause I am applying for https://master.epfl.ch/bioengineering n.year and I am
about getting in lol!
