Just noticed @djnavarro also started breaking the rules. But what a beautiful picture! If I go along, will I actualy also be breaking rules or merely socially conforming? Would I rather break rules by not breaking the rules? Oh the pressure and burden of higher-order reasoning.

But it is self-torture too! This has been lying on our living room table for days and EVERYONE in our household (including me) is just TOO LAZY to solve it. Aaaarch!

I need to confess: I have been trying to solve the puzzle through visual imagery. Not surprisingly, I failed. Coincidentally, I now believe it is provably NP-hard. (Just in case: No, embodied problem solving won’t do the trick. When will enactivists learn...)

IQ-puzzler. And in the mean time we also have a proof idea for NP-hardness due to @JohanKwisthout (see: https://twitter.com/johankwisthout/status/1001858740625305602?s=21 …). It’s not all fun and games, but research too! ;-)

I have to look it up but I think one of my students looked at this when I was at @LIACS in Leiden. I'd say this problem has partition as a special case for n×2 boards? And k×1 (k > 2) pieces?
