What was the word count of your dissertation?

We do the same at our research group - thesis to answer the research question, and separate research reports with all the details and logs of all experiments

I think I agree - I like a punchy and informative document, and the thesis is only part of the process of conducting PhD study - there are other places to learn to write

I'm really tempted to calculate my word count now but I don't know of a quick way to do it on my phone

I just picked my thesis off the shelf (at home
) and had a look to see if I had a word count... but I didn't declare it.
I do remember that printing it double sided was considered "edgy'. Too many hard and formal formatting rules/culture are curious & limiting…pic.twitter.com/8wgXWfw8VS

I would have never thought double sided printing would be an issue for some people... interesting!

Most theses were not double sided. My thesis is "thin" on my supervisors shelf because of this. On formatting, this meant I had to follow a tiny rule, as the double sided document made me fix the size of the gutter (bound) margin. Felt strange (but reasonable).

What year was this? I'm really confused tbh :P

Still in the regulations. I remember having a few conversations at the time about this... (Rules of 2007, submitted in 2010)pic.twitter.com/Aunaqwto7W
