        I actually was supported right through the school system with my Cerebral palsy from primary and high school until I hit Mairehau which cut the teacher aide support and then I had to start over

        18 at Mairehau. If I didnt go there the support would have stayed till I turned 21

        But what about some conditions like ADHD, dyslexia, etc, which often aren’t even diagnosable until 8 years +

        I agree. Early intervention should be extended till at least 7. In my experience (2 kids with diagnoses) Developmental paediatricians are wary of diagnosing learning disabilities till age 7 & just give a bookmark diagnosis like global delay, which yields little support in school

        Mind you, even diagnoses like ASD or ADHD or dyspraxia or dyslexia don’t get you any additional support at school in a large number of cases.

        Please pay special attention to transition services between EI and Primary school. No continuity of care between the 2 which can undo all the good specialist support in EI
