Our Government today announced a much needed boost to front-line family violence services, the first funding increase in 10 years. It's all part of our plan to improve child and family well-being. Read more here ➡️ http://nzlp.nz/g7k4y pic.twitter.com/pB5M3HSeq6

Throwing more money will not solve the problem. Just let them buy more alcohol to fuel their anger.

very cool. i would suggest that men also have the right to be free from violence, but i suppose they come under whānau. male domestic violence victims are often sadly overlooked or ignored. still, good stuff.

Yes, but going by the 'advocacy' for stopping family violence, anyone would think men never are never victims of family violence, only perpertrators. https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=11636220 …https://www.theguardian.com/society/2010/sep/05/men-victims-domestic-violence …

yeah, it's awful. that's not to mention the emotional/psychological abuse of males by females which is not only unaddressed but tacitly permitted in our culture :(

Great, this fits in just nicely with Andrew Little letting all the violent fathers and wife beaters out of jail because "locking them up doesn't work" 😂😂😂

I hope that as part of the package it'll also include getting to the root causes rather than addressing the symptoms; if people are resorting to drugs and alcohol, which fuel violence, because of despair then are we going to see a focus on jobs and improvements in real wages?

Everyone needs to be free of violence. You can start by being tough on criminals. If you hurt children a good start would be to go to jail. Stop giving out home detentions to criminals. Stop talking the talk and start walking the walk. Get your act together. Protect kids!!!

If they just raised the unemployment benefit for poor childless people, and made sure everyone received the accommodation supplement automatically, then it would be a lot easier for youth and others to break away from dysfunctional families. #Poverty #Childless
