Definitely especially with more union powers any employer who can replace staff with machinery would be stupid not too. Already started with apple picking machines and of course McDonalds kiosk replacing counter staff. Will only accelerate with continued wage rises

Unfortunately their supporters are convinced that the extra money will be spent making everyone better off. But for employers the .75 cents turns into over $1 by the time you add in KiwiSaver, acc, holiday pay etc

By the way, National it more difficult for workers to have any authority to negotiate a fair pay woth their employer. As far as employers are concerned if they a worker doesn't like their pay then leave, simple as that. They don't care about being fair to their workers.

Spiral effect. Prices will increase as small businesses will need to compensate for the extra expenses they will now incur due to this. It's economics 101.

More money in the the working classes pocket would increase the number of customers a small business's gets, as more everyday kiwi's would be able to afford to USE that business. Therefore, NO EXCUSE for increasing prices.
