We’re working to ensure every Kiwi kid gets the best start in life. All families with new-born children will receive $60 per week for the first year, with that support ongoing for the second & third years for those who need it. Why the discrimination between those who need it and those that don't? How does @nzlabour decide on "those who need it". You forgetting many married working couples are struggling to make ends meet and desperately need this help, but will end up funding "those who need it".

Seeing this is subjective I have concluded I need it. Oh but no baby! No worry am a new great grand parent. Will that qualify me? Bureaucracy will grow faster than baby. Let's do this.

So refreshing to have a government that puts the welfare of the most vulnerable at the top of the list. 3 cheers for Labour.

Robbing the haves, and giving to the have nots, who have babies without considering how they're going to pay for them, and what about us who raised kids without any assistance at all. We pay for these kids as well!.

This new policy is like pouring more water into a sieve. One that gets more holes every time you make having children more economically attractive to poor families.

No sure why I have to pay because someone made the choice to have a kid.

Because without children the human race would become extinct numbnuts.

Two things: 1. I have nothing against people having kids, I just don’t want to be forced to pay for them. 2. The human race is rooting the planet, so the fewer of our species the better.

A bit disappointed as our baby is due in January. Voted Labour. We get zilch from the govt despite over 50% of our income going to tax and student loan. No PPL as I'm a sahm.!We make ends meet but not much more... this would've been a really nice boost.

For a great number of teenage girls a child was their money ticket. This makes it even more attractive, Breeding for the benefit.

Why do you have a kid when you can't afford it? Too logical for @NZLabour ?
