Can you provide a link to your sources? Data not just a National policy piece. Site some actual instances where a woman was earning less?
-
http://www.stats.govt.nz/infoshare look under 'work income and spending', then 'Earnings and Employment Survey'. that's the official wage data
-
But which exact data are you using? This story shows different figureshttp://www.radionz.co.nz/programmes/brighter-future/story/201851311/brighter-future-pay-gap-low-on-agenda …
-
I think you're using the wrong stats, this says specifically that median hourly earnings from the NZIS is besthttp://www.stats.govt.nz/browse_for_stats/income-and-work/Income/gender-pay-gap.aspx …
-
Hi Kirsty. NZIS ended in 2015. Median hourly earning data is now collected by HLFS. Median gap up from $1.79/hr in 2008 to $2.72/hr in 2016.
-
So, you're right - median hourly earnings would have been better to use, it shows gap widening more. But both show it's worse nominally & %.

The classic NZ trick of stopping a long-running survey at a random point! Thanks
