        National's policy is to run Housing New Zealand for a profit. Labour's policy is to run it for Kiwis in need. That's the difference.

        The profits that National extracts from Housing New Zealand have gone into creating its surplus - at the cost of fewer state houses

        All up Nats have extracted $1.8b from HNZ. Dividends suspended for 2yrs cause HNZ is broke but other payments to govt continue.
