Despite Facebook’s claims, everyone involved in the Cambridge Analytica data-siphoning incident did not give his or her “consent” — at least not in any meaningful sense of the word, says @zeynephttp://nyti.ms/2IDXWcv

Why is this a surprise. Facebook’s modus operandi has *always* been to refine the rules or in some other way make it possible to unprivatize it’s users data.

I sure never gave my consent to have my private usage of facebook separate me and some of my closest family and friends. It did. I'm fighting that now.

Not everyone I love is a sociologist, like I am with a degree in it. Not everyone is a capable investigator. I have also got a degree in Criminal Justice. My own family doesn't believe me right now, and that's concerning. And our one commonality? We're all on Facebook.

Nothing will happen. Much like the Equifax breach, or the Wells Fargo fraud committed by tellers opening up accounts for those who never consented, consumers will end up taking it in the backside while the corporations continue on their merry way.

Wondering if #Facebook would have also had to pay 30% of their revenue if that had happened after the new #GDPR rules would have been live. A shame they are not yet.
