"Christopher Hitchens was one of the great essayists in America. He would be unemployable today because there was no set of priors he wasn’t willing to offend," writes @nytdavidbrooks.https://nyti.ms/3fXOIrP

There is a pandemic and the president is deploying federal troops around the country as a campaign ploy, for example

Christopher Hitchens was an even more rare human: utterly fearless, and a lion to the end

David Brooks has a very secure job. He wrote this article. Thus, he is refuted.

David Brooks isn’t even slightly in Hitchens’ class though. He’s never had a radical or interesting idea.

He didn't care if he was loved or hated, and there is no third choice in how to feel about him. I stumbled onto his work after reading Penn Jillette's books. Probably the best thing that ever happened to me.

Hitchens wouldn't need to be employed. He'd get tens of thousands of paying substack subscribers overnight. And he'd write more books. It's people just starting out & those without the prominence of Hitchens who are vulnerable to cancel culture.
