    Jailhouse letter from Andy Li, one of 12 Hong Kongers who were stopped by mainland authorities while trying to flee to Taiwan by boat. The partly redacted part appears to be a message to stop campaigning on his behalf. Impossible to say whether that's his actual view.

    Andy Li, the brave and determined man we know, who spared his life to defend freedom and democracy in Hong Kong, will never ever say something like this. Release him. photo from
