I don’t get how people can say “we don’t know yet if this is terrorism” how could it possibly be anything else? What defines terrorism as different than blowing up a restaurant?

Terrorism is the use or threat of violence to achieve political goals. This appears to be racially motivated. Which is not less awful.

There is no universally agreed upon definition of terrorism. The one I subscribe to is more broad than yours. I include ideological aim as part of this in addition to political. In that sense I strongly believe that blowing up this restaurant is without a doubt terrorism

...what *your* definition of terrorism is, really doesn't matter. In this circumstance, we don't know what the motive OR ideological aim was, who the target was, or, ANY details in fact. So, to say that this is "without a doubt" isn't fact, it's an opinion, and an incorrect one.

Why don’t you provide me with this universal definition you speak of? Because I guarantee you can’t find one. What possible motivation is there that would make this not terrorism?

So this is not universal it’s NATO which is a good place to start for a definition for sure and also appears to line up with my thinking that it is very broad by including ideological

Really...? You're going to play semantics? You wanted reasons? How about revenge? Targeted hit? Organized Crime? Tell me, what political or ideological motivation did these people have that would point you towards terrorism?

Yes. It does sound like another male, white Christian act of domestic terrorism. If you had read the article, you might have known that.
