what do we need to do, to be able to see pass Gender, and recognize that it is not about women complaining about men, it's about a humanbeing saying this is not right, and for another humanbeing to be open to feedback.

Question: why is the utterly abhorrent "boys will be boys" used to excuse abuse by grown men?

Agreed. It's bad enough when it's used to excuse bad behaviour in children, but grown-ass men?? The "good guys" need to do a hell of a lot more to hold their fellow men accountable for shit like this.

I agree. I have plenty of male friends who are lovely and would never dream of treating anyone, male or female, like this. We need to have much higher standards for male behaviour if this is still the mantra that we're getting.

Absolutely. It's not enough to just not treat women (or anyone) badly -- that should be the expected norm. "Not bad" isn't the same as being "good". But it's encouraging to see so many men taking a stand, these days & even moreso, raising their sons to do the same.

No they have not. They still have their jobs. In fact the employer is suing her for being “overzealous” in her job. Only in 2018 are women being disciplined for doing their job too well.

She works for a government fisheries watchdog group. Her employer is having a discipline hearing on her for being overzealous on inspecting fish catches and for being rude.

I have worked with men in those types of industries and they can be very crude and sexist; funny how men can dish that crap out but cry foul when a woman takes offence or wants to be treated with the respect due her.

Doesn’t surprise me. I work for a Scottish company. As their first black female no -British employee I was bullied mercilessly early in my career by the boys. It stymied my growth in the company to the delight of the majority of my peers. I couldn’t quit due to immigration rules.

I moved as soon as I could, which was 7 years later due to Theresa May’s hostile environment policies at the Home Office.
