Paige Patterson, a prominent Southern Baptist leader, said that women who are abused by their husbands should focus on praying for them, rather than on divorce. He has been removed as president of his seminary.https://nyti.ms/2IHkuge

Right! Because PRAYER WORKS everyone! It has worked to END school shootings, it has worked to ELIMINATE domestic violence and abuse and it has worked to make you rich and successful beyond your wildest dreams! Let's all keep praying! It's worked for everyone so far! Yay prayer!

He probably beat his wife and kids too...he's a Southern Baptist, their women are one step away from being made to wear burkas. Women should prey on their abusive husbands...maybe a little "grit ball" wouldn't straighten them out.

A Southern Baptist minister told my daughter to pray instead of going to authorities after her husband abused their newborn. Once the authorities were involved, the same minister told her that God would not want her to cooperate with the investigation.

I ran a nonprofit DV/SA program in rural western Montana. I heard comments like this and worse from some of clergy. One woman told to stay cuz husband would just find another victim to harm! I could tell you much worse
