I think this misses the point. Moments of silence are to remember and honor those who have died. Discarding them will not help stop shootings; they were never intended to do so. There is nothing wrong with taking time to remember the fallen.

I believe in a moment in silence as well...think you're missing the point here. We're all in this together, no one is discrediting the point of taking a moment in silence, she's wanting to demand even more. Can't we just put our outrages in check for just one min & come together?

Yes, we all agree that change and action is required on multiple levels!! A question is what change will meaningfully impact outcomes: a) More thoughtful mental health treatment for teens b) Securing schools with a single pass code c) Reduce media violence and amplification

We can make a change. Require all gun owners to take a course and carry their license with them at all times. If they’re caught with a gun without it, they go to federal prison. That would be a real change.

and yet we can’t lock up real criminals, so instead you want to go after law-abiding and honest people who are the bedrock of this country.

Since celebrities & politicians want to do something why don't they take the lead. They should move out of their gated communities, stop using bodyguards in public, & live like you're asking everyone else to live.

A reductive point. You may not be comforted by displays of human solidarity, but others are. Moments of silence and moments of action are not mutually exclusive. Cut the virtue signalling and help to make change where change is necessary.

Is she daft? Moments of silence are for honoring the deceased, not affecting political action.
