An ever-growing body of research consistently reaches the same conclusion: The only variable that can explain the high rate of mass shootings in America is its astronomical number of gunshttps://nyti.ms/2KHx4st

Absolutely ludicrous on its face. You are literally saying that the mental stability, or more precisely the lack of mental stability, of the shooter plays zero role in their actions. #BullShit all around.

Actually mental illness plays a big part in gun purchases. Unstable people should not be allowed to purchase guns but they are, and they do. Thanks to Trump.

Trump did not setup the existing NCIS system, nor is hebthe reason that the mental health reporting into the system is inadequate. I see no way that he can be legitimately to blame for any of this.

It's not Trump alone. It's people. It's being so selfish that the mere thought of not having what you want is so important that it trumps the needs of an entire nation. Gun violence can only happen if guns are easily accessible. But it won't matter until it happens to you.

My guns haven’t harmed anyone so trying to take them away saves no one. And if you think #2A supporters have them for selfish reasons then you really don’t understand #2A supporters. First and foremost 2A supporters are motivated by protecting freedom for all.

The problem with this common argument is that if we just trust every gun owner, it requires us to wait until someone is *murdered* for you to lose the privilege of gun ownership. It should be work to own a gun and prove you’re able to handle the huge responsibility.

I think you have the word “privilege” confused with the word “right”. And not just an average ordinary right, but one so important that it made this top ten list of rights as recorded in the Bill of Rights.

I agree that i changed the term from right to privilege. We should repeal the 2nd amendment and replace it with something specific enough to require people to work to obtain a firearm so that only responsible people like you have them.

Soet me get this straight. Guns have been in American homes for the last 200 or so years and because there's been a rise in mass shootings in the last 10 or 15 years, we've resorted to blaming gun owners for owning guns? What a piss poor excuse 😡😡😡!!!

I don't think semi-automatic guns or bump stock were available 200 years ago. Also one doesn't use these guns for hunting or competition gun sports.

To say that men of war, were smart enough to write the Constitution in the first place, couldn't see the evolution of war is an ignorant statement. The puckle gun was invented about 100 years before the Constitution. Also, you've never heard of a 3 gun competition or dove hunting

Tell me one reason, why a civilian needs to carry a gun on the street. The examples you mentioned regard hunting and competition. Not an "I drive to the supermarket/bar/restaurant and take a gun with me just in case" This is about banning war weapons and regulation gun possession

Why as a citizen should I be able to carry a so called "war weapon" to the supermarket or elsewhere? Simple. No matter where you go, there's criminals roaming the streets that possess illegal firearms. I should have the right to defend myself against said criminals.

like these cases? @Well_Regulated_ Do you know how low your chances are to encounter a "bad guy" with a gun in regular life (and I'm not talking about some cities Problem zones). Or are you saying Americans in general are much more criminal than, say, Europeans?

I think it depends on what city you're in that depends on you chances of encountering a criminal. Also, you have to look at other violent crime rates. Europe may have lower gun death rates but, their violent crime rates are higher. If I had a choice, I'd rather be shot than beat

the chance of death by being shot is much higher though. I'd rather be injured than dead. I think my family would prefer that too. And I would prefer bringing my child to the doctor, than ordering a coffin.

This is just silliness. If we really wanted to make schools safe we could do so tomorrow. Why don't you just admit you want to confiscate guns instead of creating intellectual gibberish? At least then we could have an honest discussion.

A security checkpoint like we find at courthouses, embassies, and even some credit unions and pawn shops would make it extremely difficult to bring dangerous items into the schools. Do Americans value children worth as much as their congressmen?
