If President Trump has his way, TV viewers who see ads for Neulasta would learn that the list price for each injection is $6,200. Would it actually drive down drug prices? Or would it be counterproductive?https://nyti.ms/2x6Q5CP

Listing the price doesn’t drive down prices. The problem that keeps prices rising is that you can’t get these drugs anywhere else. If the injection was 20000 people will still put their house up to buy it because they don’t want to die.

As a previous pharmaceutical rep, I think prices should always be shown. But advertising drives up prices and causes overuse. I would have no ads and Dr ability to tell patient price before prescribing

Agreed. I think its a good idea...however I doubt it does anything to actually drive down prices...but its a good start.

Let’s look at it this way...You need this injection to live. You’re told it costs 6000 dollars. You can’t get it anywhere else. So what do you do? You buy it, because you don’t want to die. What will change? Nothing.

Thats what I'm saying...I don't think it changes drug prices, but I don't disagree with transparency on the prices of drugs.

what specifically made u say they went "full retard" for asking questions? I actually like the idea of transparency with drug prices, but I don't think it will drive down the prices.

I don't even think the ads should be legal. I trust my physician to prescribe the right drug, not the pharmaceutical company itself.

honestly, I think they shouldn't be advertising these things to the consumer. It should be left to the doctor to decide who should get what. They understand these drugs we don't. They advertise on tv to do an end run around the doctors.

What I want to stop is Big Pharma advertising their drugs on the media. What it wants is an end-around to the patients so that they can demand drugs from their doctors. Primary examples are antidepressants and antibiotics. Cancer treatments should also be banned.
