Ayanna Pressley is trying to become the first person of color to serve in the House from Massachusetts. John Lewis, Maxine Waters and the Congressional Black Caucus have endorsed her white opponent.https://nyti.ms/2wXqZpG

Do they have to support a black person if in their judgment the white person is the better candidate?

Look, I'm all for racial equality and shit, but you shouldn't vote for someone just because they're black; you should vote for someone because you like they're platform, org feel that it's better than all other opponents'

It seems the @nytimes , in what appears to me to be a racist headline and article, is suggesting that we choose candidates based on race, not ability. I know nothing about the candidates but I very much respect Mr Lewis and Ms Waters opinions. Not the case for the Times.

What's the point of this article? That all black people have to support every other black person without an analysis of merit? That @RepMaxineWaters and @repjohnlewis should support the disastrous policies of Ben Carson and sexual misconduct of Judge Thomas? #WhyICanceledNYT

This smacks of the same protectionist, behind the scenes wheeling and dealing by incumbent Dems that had a part in the 2016 election and tried to squash the progressive voice. This sort of shit will ensure the GOP will prevail in the 2018 mid terms.
