You are assuming insurance/mental health care is available. Pediatricians and doctors know very little about mental health treatment and medication. They do not have the training. Finding mental health care for a child or adolescent even in a large city can be almost impossible.

It can take months if a psychologist is available and psychiatrists for children and adolescents are few.

Can we talk about what is happening with insurance? Can we talk about how expensive the copays are for hopitalizations, for weekly counseling, for medication...if you can get appropriate medication? Can we talk about inadequate support/lack of professionals in schools?

Well, I can tell you the disinformation war is not going well with the children. Kids are so confused about the world already without this whole media blitz of confusing narratives.

Actually being a parent and trying to talk to your damn kids will do well enough. And the best part about talking with your kids, spending time together and giving them some encouragement? Doesn't cost a dime.

Antidepressants efficacy greater for anxiety vs depression, but also place in MDD. After Paxil failed in 2004, less drug use in kids, but no tx seems worse - 2008-15, proportion of ER/hospital encounters for suicide-related diagnoses almost tripled in kidshttps://nyti.ms/2Ldvhwr

This may prevent the next few mass school shootings. Teens have no sincere outlet for their emotions anymore since 24 hour social media. There’s no down time, no time to regroup; just chat rooms/sites to reinforce their own fears & beliefs.
