In @NYTOpinion Op-Ed columnist @PaulKrugman writes, "1980 was an inflection point for a lot of things in America. That can’t be an accident. And it's also almost surely not an accident that this turning point coincided with the election of Ronald Reagan."https://nyti.ms/2IuxkhR

I voted for Regan because I liked him; because Carter seemed disengaged, out of touch and frankly ineffective. But yes, virtually everything wrong with America today can be traced to the administration of Ronald Reagan.

St. Reagan was another man of questionable mental competence. A friend at Stanford who is a Neurologist said that they used to joke about which one of them would diagnose him with geriatric dementia eventually. He was a pawn. He was NOT any savior. Krugman is right. #FBR

What Krugman really means is that the citizens rejected his dream of a communist utopia by electing, overwhelmingly, a true American.

I could argue it started with Wilson or FDR, or JFK, or Johnson, or Carter, or Clinton and throw a bunch of anecdotes against history. But, I would just be a partisan hack if I did that. Smh

Spot on. Mankind’s history reveals a slow, inexorable move left in governance, with minor stalls along the way. It’s the progressive party for a reason.

FDR and the New Deals were the cause of most of our problems today. THAT was our "dismal turning point."

Judging from your horribly failed prognostications from the past 2 years, it'd be wonder if many still take your opinion seriously. Retirement can be good for the soul in your case. I was awake in the 80's. Nice attempt to rewrite history.

And the biggest thing was lowering marginal tax rates and the begoinning of the claim that we were too poor to help people but too endangered to not buy, rebuy and re-rebuy tools of mass destruction.

Bakke. Prop 13. Viguerie, et al., the post-Nixon-war-against-the-war-against-the-war folks, the reaction to desegregation of schools when neighborhoods wouldn't...then add in Iran and a(nother) oil disruption and it was prime time. And, mostly, we've paid ever since.
