"That’s one of the oldest passenger jets I have heard of that is still in service." The 39-year-old plane that crashed outside Havana reflects the troubled state of Cuba's air industry.https://nyti.ms/2IyDIop

This wasn’t a “hand me down” airplane. It was a wet lease which is an every day occurrence in modern aviation. The fact that’s it’s 39 years old isn’t revelant, especially considering we have no idea what caused the crash. I love the @nytimes but this is pure clickbait.

This is what happens when the US empire imposes an economic embargo. Destroying the economy, infrastructure, and lives is what US imperialism strives for

EVERYWHERE Socialism has been applied, it's been a dismal failure, from Cuba and Venezuela. To the collapsing Social Structure and economy of California. If you like chaos, famine, disease, oppression and death, Socialism is the way to go.

The fact is that an accident can occur anywhere around the world, didn’t an airbus 320 crashed on the Hudson some years ago? The only fact is that we still don’t know why it crashed, so makes no sense jumping to conclusions without analyzing what was recorded on the black box.

US embargo has been trying to kill Cuba since 1961. The crash is just another victory to the infamous policy.

Ask Cuban Americans in Miami who had family murdered and tortured by the Cuban regime, what Socialism/Communism is like... We didn't make Cuba become Communist, it was their decision

When I heard it was a B737-200 I was like which airline still operates that kind of aircraft!

So it can’t reflect a ‘troubled state’ if it wasn’t a Cuban airplane.

It can if they’re still flying a bird that old, because they don’t have enough newer birds to fly!

We can’t jump to conclusions without listening to the black box recordings. FYI those airplanes fly all around the world, not only in Cuba.

Hopefully Cuba finds it's way into the 21st century via tourism and other industries, improved relations with the USA, and a zest to compete in the modern world; for the sake of the Cuban population.

2/2. ...shows poor and dangerous practices that only existed because of corruption of Mexican authorities. THIS DOES NOT MEAN all Mexican airlines are in the same spot. General aviation and small airlines are more susceptible to be involved in corruption.

I think you need to read the article twice... Or more times till you understand the policy by: Cuba is in deep trouble that allows it to get service only from companies that are out of radar meaning companies this small and this truobled... And unable to get new planes by itself
