They are praying today in Santa Fe, Texas. They often are, but after Friday's shooting, the need feels bottomless.https://nyti.ms/2KD1xHQ

I’m just going to put this theory out in the open...prayer is not stopping school shootings, so perhaps we should get a fucking grip on reality and make gun ownership as hard to receive as a citizenship in our country right now.

Since I assume many have prayed over school shootings in the past, and since we have evidence that school shootings have continued, perhaps, just maybe we should do something else. Like VOTE. Support candidates who want to strengthen gun ownership rules. VOTE some more.

Doesn’t work, waste of time. This is like the 20th time people prayed after a school shooting. What part of doesn’t work isn’t clear? Vote.

What’s the point anymore? There is simply no solution to school shootings. Nothing. Just hope it doesn’t happen where you live.

Or make it you mandatory that you are in a well regulated militia if you want to own a firearm. Do a gun buy back program. At least do something to limit the odds. You know, like requiring a seatbelt when you drive because you’re less likely to die? Seems logical, no?

Praying doesn't seem to have a great track record in stopping these atrocities. Might be time to try a new approach.

We need to get KIDS to cope. Kids think shooting is a way out of their pain. Kill the people you hate, kill the people that make fun of you, kill the teachers who make you read. We used to cry. We asked questions. Now when you hate, apparently lock and load is the answer.

How absolutely pious of you to assume they haven't. What is meant is, action needs to be taken. No more just thoughts and prayers. Action.........by voting out those who won't stand up to the NRA.

No one who prays would be against prayer. Prayer is an action. That's another sign they aren't praying. Was this shooter a member of the @NRA? Have any been? Don't think so. I am a member, and haven't harmed anyone either.

So, you don't think laws need to be changed? I don't want guns taken away. I want better policies. NRA has a lot of leverage because of one thing. Money. Why won't they allow CDC to research gun violence and haven't for 20 years?
