Would get my vote and support! Make that change. Don't let them forget or sweep it under the rug, it's been years since UT, Austin, CO, Sandy Hook and on and on no more, sorry for your loss and praying for your family, it's time for actions and solutions!

I applaud them, but I was a school board member and you have far more influence and ability to effect change as a parent. School board members are shackled by too many rules.

I just did the same thing and WON! First time running for anything. "We must be the change we wish to see in the world". Gandhi.

If elected, they'll find that school board expenditures have strings attached to state or federal regulations. School boards should be composed of people who understand education. A life altering event like a murdered child may not convey any expertise for BoE administration.

Brave! and an inspiration, I think I would simply descend into catatonic depression, especially with the hate comments in so many places, including by elected officials we thought were above the fray- kudos parents!
