One way to ensure your protesters don’t die would be to not let a terrorist organization lead the protest.

Yesterday I was at a reception for an acclaimed Iranian-American professor. It was attended by faculty from various MENA depts, many born abroad in Morocco, Syria, Iraq, Tunisia, Turkey and Iran. They had ample time to bring up the subject of Gaza among themselves. No one did.

The subject of Gaza is mainly trotted out for public consumption when there are un-knowledgeable people in the room who can be easily riled up. When alone with each other, without an audience... scholars dealing with Middle East regions, don't focus on Gaza.
