The tax was originally proposed at $200 per employee. Then Amazon and other businesses pushed back. Boom, it went up to $500. This "compromise" is higher than the original proposal. Hopefully other businesses can learn from this experience.

Throwing more $ at the problem will do nothing. A paradigm shift is needed. Maybe let Amazon spend the tax revenue on new ideas to help the homeless. They have super-smart people. Maybe they can do what government can’t.

Reducing the “tax” from $500 per employee to $375 is hardly “scaling back”. Seattle can look forward to losing both of these two companies.
